Every woman has a "Dream Dress"

Pictured below are some of the dresses from films that are part of the book, The Whore of Scrbylon. The main character owns a dress shop that copies dresses from the movies and, until the President's daughter becomes a client, she does most of her business online: www.HollywoodDresses.com

After she does the wedding dress for the daughter of the leader of the free world, however, she becomes a media darling and is on all the daytime talk shows, which causes her business to take off like a rocket.

Lady Di's Wedding Dress

The first dress Jess copies when she starts www.HollywoodDresses.com. She makes it for a college friend who later divorces and gives it back so Jess has it on display in her shop.

The original is on display at the Spencer family home, Althrop, in England. Click on the dress for the website.

It's also important to the storyline at the end of the book.

Tammy Jenkins Wedding Designs

Doris Day in Pillow Talk

White sheath made for Jess's best friend from high school, Tammy Jenkins, for her marriage to Congressman, John Coyoteros.

It's one of the first gowns mentioned in the book.

Audrey Hepburn, Sabrina

Sleeveless LBD - Little Black Dress - designed by Givenchy for the movie, Sabrina

Edith Head won an Academy Award for Costume Design for the movie, but it was largely Givenchy's designs that earned the Oscar.

Copied in black for the bridesmaid dresses for Tammy's wedding and worn by Jess and Tess, her best friends.

The bride and bridesmaids all wore elbow length white gloves, ballet flat skimmers and carried bouquets of gardenias.

Kennedy Kreiger Fundraiser Dresses

Grace Kelly, Dial M for Murder

This was the dress Jess copied for Tammy for the Kennedy Kreiger fundraising gala where she met John.

They chose the dress because it would allow Tammy to wear flat shoes since she's tall.

Oscar Dress worn by Zhang Ziyi, star of Memoirs of a Geisha

Jess copied this gown for herself to wear to the Kennedy Kreiger Fundraising gala.

She made it in a dark brown shantung printed with giant cream orchids and wore, just in the plunging neckline, an orchid-shaped pendant made of mother-of-pearl which was designed by her sister-in-law JoJo, owner JoJoJewels.com.

Dresses Worn by Jess for Events

Marilyn Monroe, Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend and Madonna, Material Girl

After Chris Mercer invites her to go to the huge Untamed Halloween party in Seattle, Jess recreates this dress and dons a blond Marilyn wig.

1840s Period Gown

This is a period gown that serves as further inspiration for the costume gown.

Movie Gown from Onegin

This is the gown Liv tyler wore in the movie, Onegin

Jess copies this gown for the costume masquerade and premiere of the movie, Macabe, which was filed in Baltimore since it's the birthplace and final resting place of Edgar Allen Poe.

The First Daughter's Wedding Designs

Audrey Hepburn, Sabrina

Iconical ballgown designed by Givenchy.

Jess will copy this dress for Sabrina Martin, the 26-year-old daughter of the president of the United States.

Oprah, Awards Ceremony

Gown copied for Catherine Martin, the first lady and mother-of-the-bride.

Grace Kelly, Rear Window

Bridesmaids dresses for Sabrina, the daughter of the president.

Bridesmaids and bride will all carry red roses from th Rose Garden since the wedding will be held on the White House lawn.

Talk Show Appearances Dresses

The "Jump Dress" from Titanic

Recreated for Martha Stewart for Jess's appearance on her show.

Rachel Ward, The Thorn Birds

Described as the "Ashes of Roses" dress in the movie, Jess copies it for herself to wear for her appearance on Martha Stewart Living.

Julia Roberts, Pretty Woman

Dress recreated for Rachel Ray when Jess is on the show.

Demi Moore, Indecent Proposal

Jess wears this for her appearance on Rachel Ray.

Angelina Jolie, The Oscars

Recreated for Ellen Degeneres to wear when Jess is a guest on her show.

Audrey Hepburn, Funny Face

Jess copied this for her own use when she appeared on Ellen.

Audrey, Breakfast at Tiffany's

Jess recreates the classic dress for Oprah, whose clout allows her to borrow the original jewelry from a museum.

Keira Knightly, Atonement

Jess copied this for her appearance on Oprah since many have called this the new iconic dress of film, much like the Breakfast at Tiffany's LBD.

She made the dress more figure friendly by giving it wider straps and a higher back (in order to hide a bra), to illustrate that most dresses can be copied close enough to the original so that anyone can wear them.

Jackie Kennedy Chanel Suit

Copied for Diane Sawyer to wear when Jess was a guest on Good Morning America.

Julia Roberts, Pretty Woman

The polka dot dress is a universal favorite amongst her online clients so Jess wore it on Good Morning America.

Family & Friends Wedding Dresses

Wedding Dress of Sarah Ferguson, The Dutchess of York

This is the wedding dress that Deb wanted when she married Joel so she contacted Jess and the two became instant best friends.

Drew Barrymore, Ever After

Minus the wings, this was the most-time consuming dress ever made by HollywoodDresses.com but since it was Tess's dress for her wedding, it was worth it.

She married Nick Cristakos at the Maryland Renaissance Fair.

They copied the dress, though slightly plainer, in emerald for the bridesmaids.

Tiffany DuPont, One Night With the King

This is the ensemble that Yasmine Panjabi hires Jess to copy for her traditional Indian wedding ceremony.

Jackie Kennedy's Wedding Dress

Copied for Jess's new friend, Alissa.

Grace Kelly's Wedding Dress

Copied for her sister-in-law, Diedre, for her marriage to Jess's brother Jim.

Audrey Hepburn, Funny Face

Copied for her sister-in-law JoJo, for her marriage to Jess's brother, Walt Belardino.

Julia Roberts, Steel Magnolias

Copied for Faith when she married Jess's brother, Alex.

Other Popular Dress Orders at Hollywood Dresses

Marilyn Monroe, The Seven Year Itch

Rarely ordered in the trademark white unless for Halloween (and there are thousands of fakes at costume shops), Jess often creates the dress in black, red or summer time, show-off-a-tan colors.

Jennifer Grey, Dirty Dancing

Innocent and chiffon-skirted, Baby's final dance dress is very popular with young customers.

Julia Roberts, Pretty Woman

The lace cocktail dress with the unusual neckline is also a frequent order at HollywoodDresses.com.

Audrey Hepburn, Roman Holiday

The Princess Gown is another very popular wedding dress request, minus the medals of state, of course.

Rita Hayworth in Gilda

Classic, sexy black sheath is one of the most popular evening gowns ordered online.

Kate Hudson, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days Back View of the Yellow Dress

Very popular for everything from proms to bridesmaids, this dress is one that is often ordered from Jess's site in myriad colors.

The Front View of the Yellow Dress

The "Met Dress" from Moonstruck

Every woman can identify with Cher's makeover and the night she sits by the fire with a glass of wine, admiring her new dress and shoes!

Audrey Hepburn, My Fair Lady

Very popular as a wedding dress, especially with those newly expecting brides, this gown is often custom ordered on Jess's site.

Julia Roberts, My Best Friend's Wedding

Popular for proms, bridesmaids and cocktail events in all colors.

The dress that put JLo on the map

Copied only once by a very brazen young woman for her prom. Since the dress was ordered online, the mother had no idea of the purchse and threatened to sue. Jess made a pale green slip to do under the gown and make satin ties to go along the bust area so that it was more appropriate, though the daughter was horrified by the alterations.

Grace Kelly, Gold Lame Ballgown, To Catch a Thief

Copied in white for southern belle weddings, but usually more of a costume purchase.

Andie's Homemade Prom Dress, Pretty in Pink

The style of this dress is often requested, though not usually in the pink color.
